Role Overview:

McAfee aspires to help every consumer feel safe online through an experience that creates confidence and trust. To propel this mission, McAfee is hiring a VP of UX to envision the next generation of privacy, identity, and security products. The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading a highly collaborative team in the vision and delivery of mobile, web, and desktop products. You will lead a mix of people managers and contributors and be responsible for developing people and practices. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Product and interface with business and functional leaders across the product ecosystem to infuse a human-centered approach and balance speed with quality. You will play a key role amplifying UX value and impact at scale.  

In this role, you are accountable for data-informed excellence in all functions within UX (product design, content strategy, UXR, etc) and helping to shape and drive the experience of McAfee’s products in partnership with the product team. Across the disciplines within the UX Team you will work to continually evolve the team’s craft and culture.   

We are looking for someone based in the Bay Area or PST time zone and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

About the role:

  • Accountable for the experience across the portfolio of McAfee products

  • Partner with Product Leadership and Engineering to establish the product experience vision and strategy.

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure the delivery of best-in-class product experiences that drive key business, partner, and consumer outcomes.

  • Ensure the end-to-end experience is well-orchestrated, optimally resourced, and aligns the right talent with the best opportunities for their skill and growth.

  • Drive routines that infuse human centricity into the product development process and oversee routines to measure and report portfolio and team health.

  • Provide your leadership colleagues with options, data, and recommendations to improve customer experience and business success.

  • Bring all the critical pieces together – strategy, business goals, UX, execution, technology, and customer needs

  • Ensure the appropriate UX metrics, organizational structure, and people are in place for success.

  • Be both coach and subject matter expert as you develop UX Leaders and mature the organization’s UX practices.

  • Develop and oversee the UX teams with an equity-focused talent strategy that is aligned to the organization’s short and long-term business strategy, which includes ensuring a leadership bench.

  • Make key decisions for the UX team that drive the high-level direction, roadmap, and strategy required to solve business and user needs.

  • Develop UX talent and build a thriving culture where team members grow in their careers and feel a strong sense of inclusion and belonging.

  • Support the growth of the UX team, and its Leadership, by tracking its maturity and seeing opportunities across capabilities, community, culture and quality of craft.

  • Foster strong, collaborative UX practices.

About you:

  • 10+ years leading teams in a multi-skilled design organization, ideally at a high-growth technology company driving large-scale strategic initiatives.

  • Extensive experience driving and applying user-centered methods, and a hunger to evolve your understanding of new technologies its connection with consumers.

  • Excited to dive into the world of personal security and privacy, and envision what might come next in this rapidly changing industry.

  • Able to deliver empathetic, inclusive design that accounts for end-to-end journeys which extend across a diverse group of customers, geographies, devices, products, and services.

  • Proven business acumen, cross-functional collaboration skills, and experience partnering with or supporting senior level executives.

  • Able to influence and drive product direction with cross-functional stakeholders at the VP and C-suite level.

  • A strategic communicator able to articulate clear design rationale and its connection to the business and impact for customers.

  • Have a keen eye for quality, knows what success looks like and can identify what’s needed to make meaningful improvements.

  • Enjoy creating high-functioning teams and developing managers and contributors along their career paths.

  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and able to operate successfully in a fast-paced, matrix environment.

  • Experienced in managing cross-functional department-level resources and budget.
